How much should a simple small business website cost

If you’re a small business owner in Wisconsin looking for a simple website with 1-5 pages, expect to pay somewhere between $150 and $3,000.

That’s a big range, and here’s why: it depends on how much customization and support you’re getting.

You’ll see ads offering websites for a couple hundred bucks, delivered in a week. These usually follow a cookie-cutter template model. Your site will work, but it’ll look like a lot of other sites from the same service. If standing out matters to you, that’s a trade-off worth thinking about.

In the $500 to $1,000 range, you’ll get something more custom. This is usually the territory of freelancers or newer designers who charge less than a full agency but still do quality work.

If you’re investing $1,000 to $3,000, you should expect a polished, high-converting website with real support throughout the process. That often includes professional images, clean design, and a site built to actually bring in leads.

At Lakeside Web Design, most of our small business clients in the Milwaukee area invest between $1,500 and $4,500 for their websites. That includes built-in local and on-page SEO, which saves you money down the road.
